Collapsible Guitar Inventor, Dale Peterson
This 1975 photo of inventor, Dale Peterson, Shows him with his beloved '66 Telecaster. He has played for over 40 years as a pro and has been working on fixing and modifying guitars for at least that long.

With his background in music and as a tool and die machinist, Dale was in a position in 1994 to travel to Memphis and wanted to take his guitar with him to play at "B""B" Kings bar on Beale Street in Memphis. Due to restrictions with the airlines, He was restricted to buying a seat for the guitar or leaving it home. He sat on the runway fuming at the airline for not allowing him to bring his guitar along, so, while taxiing out to take off, He came up with the idea that he researched and patented so that this could be eliminated from happening to anyone else in the future.

His vision is that realistically, all guitars that have bolt-on necks will be collapsible, in the near future. He still believes that this will come to pass, but there are a lot of musicians that have guitars that will not collapse now, and is going to make that a thing of the past also, by retro-fitting existing guitars for musicians. This process has been thoroughly tested and works fine, having no affect on the guitars playing or tonal qualities.
